We design unique events
We invite you to discover the subtle essence of Vilar de la Duquessa, a hotel where the magic of history beats in the present. A land of nobles where women played an important role as transmitters of noble heritage, Cardona boasts culture, gastronomy and nature.
LOCATION
Located in the charming town of Cardona (Barcelona), Vilar de la Duquessa offers a privileged setting for cultural, sports and leisure tourism, as well as for business stays and VIP meetings. It is close to a number of emblematic sites such as Vila de Cardona, the salt mines and Cardona Castle. Furthermore, its proximity to strategic areas such as Montserrat, the city of Barcelona and the airports of Barcelona and Girona make Vilar de la Duquessa a very accessible and versatile destination.
Bremon Hotel
The Boutique Hotel Bremon is an enclave where history and modernity intertwine with elegance. The building, which dates back to the 19th century, is a clear example of respect and love for history and its memory. Its owners, the Guals sisters, who spent much of their childhood here, transformed the old convent and school into the present-day hotel while maintaining a harmonious coexistence between the charm of the past and the comfort of the present.
El Vilar de la Duquessa
El Vilar de la Duquessa is a unique space surrounded by nature, history and wellbeing located at the top of the medieval village of Cardona, specialising in the organisation of social or corporate events for companies, groups or individuals looking for a natural and peaceful setting with an exclusive and personalised service.
Valentí Fuster Auditorium
The Valentí Fuster Auditorium is located in the old Modern Cinema of Cardona, an emblematic building that presides over the entrance to the municipality and has a capacity for up to 450 people. Its main objective is to promote healthy living as the cornerstone of Dr. Valentí Fuster's scientific project in the town of Cardona.
Church of Sant Miquel
The Church of Sant Miquel is an outstanding example of Gothic architecture that was originally erected in the 11th century in the Romanesque style, depending on the canonical church of Sant Vicenç. Transformed in the 14th century to its current Gothic form, with a central nave and side chapels, it was consecrated in 1397, and later, in the 16th century, a crypt was added to venerate the martyr saints Celdoni and Ermenter. It still conserves elements of interest such as a 15th century baptismal font, the altarpiece of Santa Anna, works by the Master of the Anemic Figures and Pere Vall, including important fragments of mural decoration and tables in museums such as the Diocesan and Regional Museum of Solsona and the National Art Museum of Catalonia in Barcelona, which bear witness to its rich artistic and religious history.
Salt Mountain
Extremely fragile and beautiful, the Montaña de Sal de Cardona consists of a sprawling diapir approximately 1,800 m long and 600 m wide. Included in the Plan for Areas of Natural Interest (PEIN), its salt deposits belong to the so-called Catalan potassic basin. This salt valley has been exploited since Neolithic times and the commercialisation of salt has played an important role in this trap throughout history. Today it is also of great tourist interest, hence the creation of the Salt Mountain Cultural Park.
Cardona Castle
A film set, Cardona Castle can boast of being considered one of the most important medieval fortresses in Catalonia. Romanesque and Gothic in style, it is located on top of a hill, and thousands of years ago the Saracens came to destroy it in one of their raids and it was later restored under Louis the Pious. Within its complex we can highlight the Torre de la Muchacha (from the 10th century) and the Romanesque church of San Vicenç.
